SCHIZO FUN ADDICT 2007 BIO

The saga continues...

"In her majesty sun lair, rumours of dark revolution."

In 2005, Schizo Fun Addict emerged after a four year absence from their esoteric hiding place -- The Atom Spark Hotel (Canarsie Records) -- legendary rock flophouse where her majesty leads all worthy inititates. The album generated a dynamic paper trail of glory:

"As sensible as it is plain mental, as simplistic as it is complex, as delightfully naïve as it is pure genius. This is the best album of 2005..." 5/5 Danny Martin, LEEDS MUSIC SCENE

"Schizo Fun Addict make deranged guitar abuse sound like the most soothing noise on earth. The sound of The Jesus And Mary Chain reinventing The Velvet Underground, The Atom Spark Hotel is a record that bristles with slanted lo-fi glory." Mike Bond, UK MUSIC SEARCH (#15 UK Music Search Top 50 of 2005)

"There is atonal alchemy here, with SFA happiest emerging from a Sonic Youth guitar maelstrom with a delicate melody line held triumphantly aloft." 8/10 Ian Gittins, PLANET SOUND, Channel 4 TV

"Essential - like your shitting me - of course it is." Mark Barton, LOSING TODAY

"...if The Pastels, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Vaselines all got back together in a veiled recrimination of past glories then, yes, rub it out immediately, because New York foursome Schizo Fun Addict have answered my prayers." 8/10 Dom Gourlay, DROWNED IN SOUND

2005 also witnessed Schizo Fun Addict taking to the streets. UNPEELED Magazine sponsored a mini tour which brought them to UK shores for the first time. And back in Gotham, the Schizo kids scored headline slots in coveted NYC joints. Despite having played a total of 9 gigs in six years, they sold out PIANOS and TISWAS, played the legendary SHOUT! and scored at the first anniversary of DEATH DISCO NYC for BP Fallon at THE KNITTING FACTORY.

In 2006, the band withdrew to New Jersey and spent the year channeling a battle plan from her majesty in the mansions of Heaven. They've been watching classic westerns and listening to alot of Bossa Nova -- ie Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, Antonio Carlos Jobim -- while keeping up with neo-psychedelia and white noise drone. The result is Schizo Fun Addict's fourth LP, THE SUN YARD, an equally light and dark sonic hallucination.

The first release from The Sun Yard is the album opener, "Jericho Son Down" on 7" limited edition vinyl courtesy of the magnificent all vinyl label, BRACKEN RECORDS. Think of a mojave sunset. Ennio Morricone is playing recorder on the porch of a whorehouse while the ghosts of Robert Johnson and Jim Morrison share whiskey from an old silver flask as Reni rides into town on a white horse. The b-side is a folk flecked flower of a song featuring Jane Gabriel in a shocking moment of quiet bliss.

Watch the skies...

SCHIZO FUN ADDICT 2005 BIO

The Atom Spark Hotel, legendary abode where all chosen initiates must pilgrimage, work and wait for the great spirit of rock ‘n roll to baptize. New York City's SCHIZO FUN ADDICT are back from a three-year residence.

Their first two albums, Just a Dimension Away (2000) and Diamond (2001) garnered comparisons to bands as diverse as early Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, Aphex Twin, Bill Withers, The Stone Roses, Burt Bacharach, and The Jesus and Mary Chain in the likes of UNCUT, MOJO, Q, and NME. So the hierarchy dispatched a sentinel who tapped them for the intricate right of passage into rock's mythical mystery school.

But first Satan intercepted the plan, offered hit singles, multi-faceted sex, designer drugs and various 401K plans. The Schizo kids didn't blink, kicked the old beast in the ass and began their epic quest for the musical Holy Grail.

Step-brother and sister dynamic duo Jane Gabriel (who still hasn’t spoken since she was four years old) and Jet Wintzer enlisted mad guitar scientist Hadrian Mordecai of The Spectacle Experiment to bring previously unknown sounds from his underground laboratory in Edison, New Jersey. Together they meticulously crafted the new epic masterpiece, The Atom Spark Hotel, a prismatic tribute to rock ‘n roll, a conscious attempt at transcendence and a journey through the possibility of sound.

Three years since checking into the enigmatic dive hotel, Schizo Fun Addict have re-emerged cleansed, purified and baptized by the spirit of rock and roll. Preparing a quasar-like explosive live show in preparation for their upcoming UK tour, the band is completed by long time collaborator Patrick Flynn on drums. He brings a Keith Moon meets Reni beat attack to their already hyperactive multi-personality disorder.

Weaving, spinning hypnoteasing. Lo-fi guitar beat attack. Stalking position for the battle of apocalypse. Preparing electric sermons with tangled fuzz choir on altar of overdriven wah wah. Smoke, mirrors, video and girls kissing. Six-string scientists of soundscape collage. Information warriors with clear vinyl degrees. C'mon and make a stand. Coming to a mind near you.

PRESS
"New York's Schizo Fun Addict have a fascinating, almost atonal, seemingly random approach to male/female harmony that instantly lifts them above their more mundane peers.... they recall dissonant, magical bands like Royal Trux, Bongwater and Scotland's Pastels. Sure, they sound psychedelic, if you choose to equate psychedelia with confusion and mystery and sex." - Everett True, NEW YORK PRESS

"Their sophomore release of lo-fi rambling songs explores rock's forgotten byways in a manner which possibly outdoes last year's brilliant debut album, 'Just a Dimension Away.' 4/5 Paul Johnson, - UNCUT

"...so gorgeous it spins around your head like fizzy love -- before giving way to the brilliantly experimental and exploratory second, a clutter of fantastic ideas. The music shoots out into dozens of different directions, and charts amazing new orbits in the process."
DIAMOND 4.5/5 - Stanton Swihart, THE ALL MUSIC GUIDE

"...Kim Deal fronting a Stone Roses swansong." - NME

"Guitars reverberate through a delirious and saturated haze. Voices drop in and out like a waking dream." - MOJO

"...the music surges through the speakers like a breaking surf...always intriguing." - Q
